Prosecution of the 1st Amendment in Boston Series: Catherine Vitale & Shannon Llewelyn - Peaceful Protestors from Wu's "Enemy List" Are Still In Court 17 months after the unlawful arrest in June 2022
#1A #bospoli #ShameOnWu #PeoplesPressMA #FreeMassachusetts
It’s been a long and surreal experience watching a clear case of selective prosecution of the medical (vaccine and mask) mandates protestors in Boston and specifically at the West Roxbury Court for protestors arrested across the mayor Wu’s house.
November 10, 2023 court hearing once again wasn’t the last one, with pending discovery requests and the next hearing scheduled for December 8, 2023 at 9am (Please join in support of #1A in court on December 8, 2023 at 9am at West Roxbury District 445 Arborway, Jamaica Plain).
It’s worth noting that there were four women arrested on 6.29.2022 for the exact same charges across Michelle Wu’s house in Roslindale (video below). Two of the cases were dismissed after two hearings at the West Roxbury court while Catherine Vitale & Shannon Llewelyn’s cases are still in court a year and a half later ...
Why haven’t these two cases been thrown out yet like the other two?
After having been a witness to the overall selective prosecution of the COVID related policies & mandates protestors and their treatment particularly by the Boston police and the courts over the past 2 years, the only conclusion that stares one in the face is:
THE PROCESS IS THE PUNISHMENT … a sobering and sad state of affairs for the FIRST! amendment in the state whose governor frequently dispenses empty rhetoric like: “The Massachusetts Constitution — the first in the nation — guarantees us all freedom and equality, safety and happiness.” Gov. Maura Healey
Is West Roxbury court “too close” with the current mayor’s office to have made an objective ruling a long time ago?
Considering that West Roxbuty court closely cooperated with E5 police and mayor’s office on enforcing Wu’s new unconstitutional ordinance in a “creative way” clearly NOT dictated by the said ordinance is a clue enough to make reasonable observers question whether these cases should even be tried in this court with many indications of the conflict of interest at play.
