It’s been a long two years since 4 women were arrested while peacefully protesting outside Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s house. 2 of them were immediately dismissed and 2 are still facing criminal charges for “disturbing the peace.” Catherine Vitale and Shannon Llewellyn.
Their trial starts Wednesday.
This case is not just about the people arrested, but about self-serving politicians abusing their power to silence their critics. This is about protecting the 1st Amendment!
We need supporters inside and outside the courthouse to show the 1st Amendment is important!
📆 Wednesday, July 17 at 9am
🗺️ West Roxbury District Court
445 Arborway, Jamaica Plain (Boston)

p.s. Would You Have Guessed How Much Free Speech Actually Costs in Massachusetts For Peaceful Protestors If They Protest “Special” Political Figures & Their Policies? As it turns out …
TWO years worth of precious personal time away from family wasted in monthly court hearings (Should’t there be a cap on number of hearings allowed for a civil ordinance violation?! Shouldn’t “disturbing the peace” “criminal charge” be required to have an actual victim to be allowed by a judge?!)
Monthly half a day away from work on a weekday if you’re working
Costs of babysitting during monthly court appearances if you have children
Hundreds of hours spent in communications with attorney
Attorney fees, of course
Emotional distress on defendants and their families
Personal reputation repercussions
… oh and how about taxpayers footing the bills for sham hearings on “criminal charge” without a victim? …
How much is all that in $ equivalent?! …
